American standard for low and medium pressure carbon steel boiler tubes

Keywords: low and medium pressure carbon steel boiler tube, boiler tube American standard, astm standard
Boiler tubes are mainly divided into three categories according to material: carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel.

1. Carbon steel boiler tube: Made of low carbon steel and low alloy structural steel, they are characterized by low hardness and poor heat resistance. They are suitable for use under low temperature and general working conditions.
2. Alloy steel boiler tube: Improved carbon steel through alloying, which improves its hardness and heat resistance to a certain extent, and is suitable for use under high temperature, high pressure and special working conditions.

3. Stainless steel boiler tube: Common materials include 304, 316 stainless steel, etc., which have strong corrosion resistance and are suitable for use in special environments such as chemical, petroleum and health industries.

The American standards for low and medium pressure carbon steel boiler tubes mainly include the following:

1. ASTM A178
ASTM A178 standard is the standard for electric resistance welded carbon steel (ERW pipe) and carbon manganese steel boilers and superheater tubes. This standard applies to pipe products with diameters from 1/2 inch to 5 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.035 inches to 0.360 inches.

The ASTM A178 standard requires that the mechanical performance indicators and chemical composition of pipes meet relevant requirements. Mechanical performance indicators include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, etc., and chemical composition includes carbon content, manganese content, sulfur content, etc.

2. ASTM A192
The ASTM A192 standard is a boiler tube standard, applicable to seamless carbon steel boiler tubes with diameters from 1/2 inch to 7 inches and wall thicknesses of 0.049 inches or more. This standard requires that the mechanical performance indicators and chemical composition of pipes meet relevant requirements.

The ASTM A192 standard also specifies pipe processing technology and testing standards. For example, the processing technology of pipes should include heat treatment, cold working, degassing treatment and quenching treatment, etc., and the testing standards include general testing and special testing.

3. ASTM A210
ASTM A210 standard is the standard for seamless carbon steel pipes for boilers and superheaters. This standard applies to pipe products with diameters from 1/2 inch to 5 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.035 inches to 0.500 inches. Different from the ASTM A178 standard, the ASTM A210 standard not only requires mechanical performance indicators and chemical composition to meet relevant requirements, but also has high-temperature creep performance requirements.

4. ASTM A213
ASTM A213 standard is the standard for seamless Ferritic and Austenitic steel high-temperature boiler and heat exchanger tubing. This standard applies to pipe products with diameters from 1/8 inch to 5 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.015 inch to 0.500 inch. Different from the previously introduced standards, the ASTM A213 standard is mainly aimed at applications under high temperature and high pressure conditions.

The ASTM A213 standard also stipulates process requirements for cold working, hot working and annealing treatment of pipes, as well as mechanical performance indicators, chemical composition, appearance quality and testing requirements.

5. ASTM A333
ASTM A333 standard is a standard for seamless and welded steel pipe suitable for applications in cryogenic service. This standard applies to pipe products with diameters from 1/8 inch to 24 inches and wall thicknesses from 0.015 inches to 1.000 inches, including both seamless and welded production processes.

The ASTM A333 standard requires that the mechanical performance indicators and chemical composition of pipes meet relevant requirements, and also includes special test requirements such as high temperature and low temperature impact tests and cold bend tests.
