Seamless steel pipe (SMLS) is an important steel product widely used in construction, petroleum, chemical industry, machinery and other fields. Seamless steel pipes can be divided into many types according to different application requirements.

Types of seamless steel pipes:

Classification by use:

Seamless steel pipes can be divided into the following types according to their uses:
(1) Seamless steel pipes for fluids: Mainly used for transporting oil, natural gas and other fluid pipelines, the specifications are generally Φ159-426mm.
(2) Galvanized seamless steel pipe for low-pressure fluid transportation: mainly used to transport low-pressure fluids such as water, gas, and air. The specifications are generally Φ10-159mm.
(3) Seamless steel pipes for transporting petroleum: Mainly used for transporting fluid pipelines such as petroleum and natural gas. The specifications are generally Φ219-426mm.
(4) Seamless steel pipes for fertilizer equipment: mainly used to transport chemical raw materials such as ammonia and urea. The specifications are generally Φ219-426mm.

(5) Seamless steel pipe for deep well pumps: mainly used for transporting groundwater, with specifications generally Φ76-168mm.

Classification by surface quality:

Seamless steel pipes can be divided into the following categories according to surface quality:

(1) Seamless steel pipes with good surface quality: good surface quality, no oxide scale, no cracks and other defects, can be used in high-pressure boilers, petroleum cracking, chemical equipment and other occasions.
(2) Seamless steel pipes with poor surface quality: There are defects such as oxide scale and cracks on the surface. They can be used in low-pressure fluid transportation, farmland irrigation and other occasions.

Classification by material:

Seamless steel pipes can be divided into the following categories according to material:

(1) Ordinary carbon steel seamless steel pipe: Made of ordinary carbon steel, it is commonly used in low-pressure fluid transportation, farmland irrigation and other occasions.
(2) Low alloy steel seamless steel pipe: The material contains a certain amount of alloy elements and is often used to transport high-pressure fluids such as oil and natural gas.

(3) Stainless steel seamless steel pipe: Made of stainless steel, it is commonly used in food, pharmaceutical and other industries and has the characteristics of corrosion resistance and hygiene.


Tips: ASTM A106 seamless pressure pipe (also known as ASME SA106 pipe) is commonly used in the construction of oil and gas refineries, power plants, petrochemical plants, boilers, and ships where the piping must transport fluids and gases that exhibit higher temperatures and pressure levels.
