Applications of ERW pipes in the chemical industry

Keywords: erw pipes in the chemical industry, erw steel pipe, welded pipe, electric resistance welding

ERW pipe is a straight seam electric resistance welded pipe, abbreviated as ERW, which is widely used in petroleum, petrochemical, natural gas, construction, electric power, mining, coal, urban pipe networks, building structures and other fields.

Applications of ERW pipes in the chemical industry:

1. Transporting chemicals

ERW steel pipes are commonly used in the chemical industry to transport various chemicals, including liquids and gases. These pipes are used in chemical plants to connect various equipment, storage tanks and processing units to ensure efficient and safe flow of chemicals.

2. Oil and gas transportation

The chemical industry often needs to transport oil, natural gas and related products. Due to its good welding performance and strength, ERW pipes are widely used in piping systems of petrochemical facilities, including oil pipelines, natural gas pipelines and related equipment.

3. Chemical processing equipment

Chemical processes may involve equipment that needs to withstand chemical attack. The corrosion resistance of ERW pipes makes it suitable for manufacturing pipes and components of these equipments.

4. Wastewater treatment

The chemical industry often produces large amounts of wastewater that needs to be treated and discharged. ERW pipes can be used in wastewater treatment systems, including pipelines for conveying, discharging and treating wastewater.

In recent years, there has been a trend in the world of replacing high-cost seamless pipes with high-quality welded pipes. This is mainly due to the continuous breakthroughs in welded pipe production technology, which is specifically reflected in the following aspects:

(1) Advances in desulfurization technology have reduced the sulfur content of steel and improved the welding quality of steel pipes.
(2) The application of vacuum degassing technology improves the purity of the tube blank strip, reduces inclusions, and improves the quality of the weld.
(3) Due to the addition of special elements such as V, Ti, Nb, etc., the carbon equivalent is reduced and the toughness and strength of the steel pipe are improved.
(4) The development of hot rolling technology has improved the dimensional accuracy of strip steel, thereby reducing the dimensional deviation of welded pipes.

(5) Improve quality inspection methods, such as ultrasonic non-destructive testing, hydraulic testing machines and other equipment, to ensure the quality of final products.

Tips: ASTM A53 covers seamless and welded steel pipe with nominal wall thickness. The surface condition is usually black and hot-dipped galvanized. ASTM A53 is produced mainly for pressure and mechanical applications, and is also used for transport of steam, water, gas line pipes.
