Standard requirements for wall thickness of gas seamless pipes

Keywords: gas seamless pipes, seamless pipe wall thickness
Gas seamless pipe wall thickness standard requirements:

1. GB/T 9711.2-1999 "Steel Pipes for Oil and Gas Industry - Technical Delivery Conditions - Additional Supplementary Indicators - Welded Steel Pipes"

This standard refers to the requirements for seamless pipes and welded pipes and includes the following provisions:
a. The nominal wall thickness of gas transmission steel pipes should meet the design requirements.

b. The outer and inner surfaces of steel pipes for gas transmission should be clean. Burrs, welding lines, pitting, defects, etc. should not be present.

2. SY/T 0413-2002 "Steel Pipes for Oil and Gas Industry"

This standard is a special pipe standard for gas transportation, which has the following provisions:

a. The outer diameter of straight seam electric resistance welded steel pipes for ordinary steel pipes should not be less than 8 inches (219.08mm), and the wall thickness should not be less than 9.5mm.
b. The outer diameter of straight seam submerged arc welded steel pipes for ordinary steel pipes should not be less than 8 inches (219.08mm), and the wall thickness should not be less than 10.97mm.
c. The standard wall thickness of seamless steel pipes is also specified, and it needs to be selected according to its diameter.

How to choose the wall thickness of gas seamless pipe?

1. Consider the characteristics of gas and transportation conditions.
Characteristics such as the color, chemical composition and pressure of the gas will all affect the selection of steel pipe wall thickness, so the selection of steel pipes should be determined based on these characteristics.

2. Consider the transportation conditions of gas pipelines.
Gas transportation involves many aspects, such as transportation distance, ambient temperature, gas composition and concentration, etc. These must be considered when selecting the wall thickness of the steel pipe. Make a choice based on the actual situation and do not blindly pursue thickness.

Calculation method of wall thickness of gas seamless pipe:

Based on the nominal diameter of the steel pipe and the required wall thickness, the specific size of the steel pipe can be calculated. Calculated as follows:
a. The calculation formula for the outer diameter of the longitudinal submerged arc welded steel pipe for gas transportation is D=K*Φ, where D represents the outer diameter of the steel pipe, Φ represents the inner diameter of the pipe, and K is a constant with a value of 0.02466~0.02518.
b. The calculation formula for the outer diameter of straight seam resistance welded steel pipe is D=K*Φ+δ, where δ represents the wall thickness, K is a constant, and the value is 0.02468~0.0252.

Conclusion:

The above is a detailed introduction to the standard requirements for the wall thickness of gas seamless pipes. I hope it will be helpful to industry practitioners and ordinary consumers to choose suitable steel pipes to ensure the safety and reliability of gas transportation.
