Common faults and repair measures of chemical pipe flanges

Keywords: chemical flanges, pipe flanges, steel flange, chemical flange failure and repair
Common faults and repair measures of chemical pipe flanges:

1) Leakage

Chemical pipe flange leakage is one of the common faults, usually caused by damage to the seal or insufficient tightening force. Solutions include:

1. Replace the seal. Select a seal that is suitable for the pipeline medium and ensure that the seal is installed without loosening.
2. Strengthen the tightening force. Under the premise of ensuring that the flange pressure range is not exceeded, increase the tightening force of the flange bolts.

3. Check whether there are bumps, scratches, etc. on the flange surface, and repair them if necessary.

2) Corrosion

Chemical pipe flanges are prone to corrosion under high temperature, high pressure, and highly corrosive media, resulting in gas and liquid leakage. The following measures can be taken:

1. Use materials with better corrosion resistance to make chemical flanges.
2. In the case where the pipeline medium is prone to corrosion, add anti-corrosion measures, such as applying special anti-corrosion coatings.
3. Regularly check the surface quality of the flange, and repair and replace it in time if problems are found.

3) Loose joints

Loose joints are also one of the common faults of chemical pipe flanges. Common reasons include:

1. Using inappropriate tightening force, causing the flange joint to be too tight or too loose.
2. Damage to the flange joint bolts and nuts.
3. The flange joint connection surface is uneven.

Solutions include:

1. Take appropriate tightening force according to the specific situation of the flange connection.
2. Regularly check the status of the flange bolts and nuts. If they are worn or damaged, they need to be replaced in time.
3. For the case of uneven flange connection surface, processing and trimming are required.

4) Leakage

Chemical pipe flanges are usually subjected to relatively high pressure. Under high pressure, leakage will occur due to insufficient tightening force or poor sealing surface quality. Solutions include:

1. Find the cause of the leakage. It may be due to insufficient tightening force or damage to the sealing surface.
2. Increase the tightening force or replace the seal according to the specific situation.
3. After multiple repairs, if the leakage problem still cannot be solved, the entire chemical flange needs to be replaced.

The above are common faults and maintenance measures for chemical flanges. I hope it will be helpful to you. When using chemical flange pipe fittings, be sure to strictly follow the instructions and perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure their normal operation and avoid greater hidden dangers.
