Schedule 80 Steel Pipe Pressure Rating

Keywords: Schedule 80 Steel Pipe Pressure Rating, Sch 80 Seamless Pipe Pressure Rating, ASME Sch 80 Dimension

Pressure Rating Chart for Schedule (SCH) 80 Carbon Steel & Alloy Steel Seamless Pipes:

Steel pipes schedule is marked by ‘Sch’ and is an indicating method represented by ASME/ANSI B36.10. The inside diameter of any steel pipe is crucial, as most are used to transport fluids and gases. Schedule 80 does not refer to the wall thickness of the pipe, but rather a range of wall thicknesses. Different specifications represent varying wall thicknesses for the same diameter. SCH 80 pipe is used in a wide variety of industries and is in high demand. SCH 80 pipe is stronger and heavier than SCH 40 pipe and is primarily used in applications where the pipe must be exposed.

Schedule 80 Seamless Steel Pipe

Since more material is required to manufacture Sch 80 carbon steel seamless pipe (measured in millimeters), Sch 80 pipe is more expensive than Sch 40 seamless pipe. Sch 80 pipe is sized to withstand high temperatures and pressures. This makes it an excellent choice for piping applications involving high water temperatures and high pressures. Sch 80 pipe's greater thickness helps it withstand higher PSI pressures. Furthermore, it is considered ideal for industrial chemical applications. The 1 inch Sch 80 pipes thickness is approximately 0.179 and 630 PSI. this number is greater than that of sch 40 PSI and thickness. Hunan Standard Steel Co., Ltd. is a major producer of schedule 80 steel pipes dimensions in mm and has been supplying its products to a wide range of customers across various industries.

Source of SCH 80 Pressure Rating:
The pressure rating of SCH 80 seamless steel pipe is mainly based on the following international standards and engineering specifications. Its technical parameters and design criteria have strict scientific basis and industry consensus:

(1) ASME B36.10 (carbon steel/alloy steel) & B36.19 (stainless steel)
Wall thickness definition: clearly defines the wall thickness size series of SCH 80 to ensure the pressure consistency of different pipe diameters.
Outer diameter standard: specifies the fixed outer diameter corresponding to each NPS (inch system) (for example, the outer diameter of a 2" pipe is always 60.3mm).

(2) ASME B31 series pressure piping specifications
B31.1 (power piping): high temperature and high pressure design criteria for power and boiler systems.
B31.3 (process piping): calculation method for pressure-temperature rating (P-T Rating) in the chemical and petroleum industries.

(3) ASTM material standards
A106 (carbon steel), A312 (stainless steel) and other specified materials have mechanical properties (such as tensile strength and yield strength) that directly affect the allowable stress value.
