How to anti-corrosion carbon steel pipe?

Keywords: anti-corrosion carbon steel pipe
Carbon steel pipes & tubes need to undergo anti-corrosion treatment during use to extend the service life of the pipeline. The commonly used anti-corrosion methods are as follows:

1. Hot dip galvanizing

Hot-dip galvanizing is a method of coating the surface of carbon steel pipes with a zinc layer. By immersing the carbon steel pipe in high-temperature molten zinc liquid, the zinc reacts with the surface of the carbon steel to form a zinc layer with uniform thickness, good adhesion and high corrosion resistance, thereby protecting the steel pipe from rust and having a long-lasting anti-corrosion effect. Hot-dip galvanizing has the characteristics of strong adhesion and good durability, and is suitable for underground pipelines and marine environments. However, hot-dip galvanizing cannot prevent corrosion inside carbon steel pipes and is more expensive.

2. Electro-galvanized

Electro-galvanizing is a method of depositing a layer of zinc on the surface of carbon steel pipes through an electrochemical process. Compared with hot-dip galvanizing, the cost of electro-galvanizing is lower, but the protective effect is not as good as hot-dip galvanizing. It is suitable for some pipelines with weak corrosion resistance and relatively good environmental conditions.

3. Paint anti-corrosion

Paint anti-corrosion is a common anti-corrosion method. The principle is to apply special anti-corrosion coating on the surface of carbon steel pipes to isolate air and moisture and prevent pipeline corrosion. Paint anti-corrosion has the advantages of convenient construction and low cost. However, the thickness of the coating is difficult to control, and defects and cracks are prone to occur, affecting the service life.

1) Polyethylene anti-corrosion

Polyethylene anti-corrosion is to spray a polyethylene powder soluble in hot water or solvent on the surface of carbon steel pipes to form a uniform and dense protective layer with strong adhesion, good anti-corrosion and weather resistance. It has very good high and low temperature properties, can be used at room temperature for a long time, and has a self-healing function.

2) Coal tar pitch anti-corrosion

Coal tar pitch anti-corrosion is to use coal tar pitch film to coat the surface of carbon steel pipes to achieve various tasks of preventing corrosion and chemical resistance. Pipelines treated with coal tar pitch anti-corrosion have high anti-corrosion capabilities against water, oil, etc., and can not only be used at normal temperatures, but also can be used in high-temperature environments for a long time.

3) Fiberglass anti-corrosion

FRP anti-corrosion As we all know, fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) has good corrosion resistance. It is a material that uses glass fiber to reinforce and reinforce plastics, thereby reducing temperature, resisting corrosion, and extending service life. FRP anti-corrosion products are widely used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, metallurgy, electric power, pulp and other industries as well as urban water supply and drainage and other fields.

To sum up, the choice of anti-corrosion method for carbon steel pipes should be based on the specific circumstances. Paint anti-corrosion and anti-corrosion coating are suitable for some pipelines with low requirements and short service life; hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing are suitable for scenarios with high requirements and long service life for pipelines. During the anti-corrosion process, attention must also be paid to construction and maintenance to avoid affecting the service life.
